Another working weekend for me, so didn’t really get up to much.
Managed to watch the Superbowl last night, and it was super, a bit of a whoopsie from Janet Jackson, during the half-time show, kinda spoiled it (I don’t wanna see that!) but the 3rd and 4th quarters were some of the most exciting NFL I’ve seen in a long while (think I’ve been watching too much Claymores)! Looks like a couple more Superbowl rings for some ex-Claymores, shame they don’t perform as well at Hampden in NFL-Germany.
Also heard that Sheila and Nikki won’t be coming down for Valentines & Nikki’s birthday as previously advertised, apparently the horse has gotten injured and the vet bill are horrendous -> its the best excuse I’ve ever heard! Just as well really cos I’m supposed to be moving that weekend and wouldn’t be a very good host.
Gonna get whipped at badminton again tonight by the usual gang but its the taking part that counts doesn’t it? Gonna try and not shout and swear as much this week as well as making sure I actually get the shuttle over the net for a change.

The best game on the web, simple but addictive:http://meph.eu.org/ (my rubbish top score is 592.5!) – try and get the penguin to bounce.
Had a weekend of mixed fortunes, spent Saturday flat hunting in the East End of London, saw some nice places, saw some dumps, and saw a really strange house with a well in the basement and cupboards hidden behind fake bookshelves. Ironically the nicest place we saw was just next door. Saturday night we headed to Wimbledon to Parminder’s flat warming/birthday party. Despite the noxious & luminous cocktails we went to Wimbledon’s premier club – “Po Na Na”. It was quite small and packed but good music and everyone seemed up for a laugh, didn’t see a single agressive yob daring me to spill his drink. Ended up back at Parminder’s listening to Bon Jovi (yes they’re rubbsih but both Parminder & Janette “are their biggest fans”) until 5:30. Despite Matt’s best effort to keep us awake and watch the sun-rise (he works for a fire-control MOD project called “Skynet” – I kid you not) we all collapsed soon after the music stopped.
Sunday was a trek back across London and then made a start to packing up the flat. Here comes yet another week of work…
Speaking of which, I played badmonton on Monday night and was both angry and terrible, lost every games I played! Time for a new raquet I think, can’t be anything wrong with my play.

Sorry no updates for a while, its been a busy couple of weeks:
- Spent Christmas and New Year in Sri Lanka with the family (Dad, Mum & Ellen), had a great time, highlights including:
- Living between a train-line, a night-club, a dual-carriageway and a managery of the entire noisy elements of the animal kingdom
- Seeing the sights of Colombo
- Enjoying the fanciest of cheap meals at the Colombo Hilton and Mount Lavina Hotels
- Watching Elephants bathe in the river
- Being a priviledged guest at the Sri Lankan Navy Rear Admiral’s daughter’s wedding. Posh as!
- A trip to the largest lying Buddha in South-East Asia (it was big).
- Spending a week at the beach (peeling).
- Beating the german’s at volleyball but losing out on the sun-loungers
- Narrowly avoiding some badly aimed fireworks which were pointed at the crowd behind us!
- Swimming in the pool at 3AM on New Years day
- Jetski-ing for the first time ever
- Having a group of squirrels moving into our hotel room
- All the pirate CDs and DVDs you have ever seen, Lord Of the Rings III!!
- Struggling to get home after the airline cancelled our return flights to the UK
- Living between a train-line, a night-club, a dual-carriageway and a managery of the entire noisy elements of the animal kingdom
- Just back in time to work a 9 day week (nice)
- On a sad note my Uncle Peter passed on Christmas Eve, I’m afraid we didn’t know until we got back and missed the funeral.
- A slightly strange party at Dereks where everyone crammed on the one couch, I managed to suck at table football, and well I’ll spare you the rest.
- A meal with the usual London crowd on a ship to celebrate Helen & my birthday
- Lost in Translation, starring Bill Murray, well worth the trip.
- A(nother) drunken trip to Reading to say farewell to Dan before he head back to work in Glasgow (lucky sod!).
And its not even half-way through Jan already! I’ve updated the Sri Lanka photos with some extras.
