Appologies for the poor quality and high dullness of the new photos I’ve just added but someone might be interested… Two new galleries added, one from the Nottinghill Carnival and one from the St Paul’s Slide o Doom.

Gmail logo Its a bit wierd… I handed out all 4 Gmail invites last week and to thank me for “my continued support for the Gmail project” and “my willingness to spread the word”, I’ve been “rewarded” with 6 more invites… any takers?

I don’t come for Wales… but this weekend I finally made it to the land of dragons, rugby players, coal mines and love-spoons. Went to Cardiff for a night after spotting a cheap but nice 4-star hotel (The Cardiff Copthorne) on LastMinute.com. Took us only 2.5 hours to get there, Sian was even brave enough to let me drive her wee car all the way there. Its a nice wee Dihatsu (a bit like my Mum’s old Panda), I managed not to scrape, stall or break it but did make it screech, shudder and complain – Sorry Sian. By the time Sian and I made it to Cardiff we only had time to have food in the hotel and a quick drink so didn’t get a chance to make a fool of myself on the dancefloor of thier Reflex 80′s bar. Got a bit of lie in on Sunday and then stocked up on the cooked-breakfast before a swim, steam and jacuzzi in the hotel pool. Managed to check out and get ourselves into Cardiff-Bay for 1.

Cardiff is much smaller than I imagined but still took us most of the day to wander round Cardiff bay and the city center. Climbed up into Cardiff Castle which is tiny compared to Edinburgh and then hit a local pub for food. Dragon souvineers were a litte disappointing, but they did a sell a nice line of swords, shields, bows and arrow’s – all decorated with the English flag – took me a while to remember that its actually the Welsh flag of St George! In the grounds of Cardiff Castle were camped (literally) 2 seperate groups of historic re-enactment clubs, a troop of musket and riflemen firing cannons and the like and a group of medieval archers, swords slingers and pikemen. Not my idea of a fun weekend but they seemed to be enjoying it. The two groups on the same patch of grass as well as the flock(?) of peacocks, the american tourists and the bird of prey center all within the same square of historic turf was a bit much but at least it was something different.

Set off for London with plenty of time, only to discover a crawling traffic jam all the way home, 5.5 hours later I made it back to Westferry!

Winfield Trust Zip-Line from the top of St Paul's

Jumping off the top of St Paul’s cathedral tonight – no doing myself an injury but doing a death-slide for charity from the top down to street level. Scaring myself witless at the mo, but if you want more details have a look at: Winfield Trust Zip Line. Hopefully have some photos of me crying, whimpering and screaming up in the next couple of days!

Trying to put together a website for Wight Squall, Charlie’s latest and argueably greatest adventure, given it a first stab with lots of work left to do but would be interested in what people think (suggestions to james at dancingwithloons.com): Wight Squall : Home Page

Not sure if its ever good to have your boss’ boss’ boss’ boss’ removed when he’s a big fan of your project… Just have to wait and see: Deutsche Bank chief seeks to reassert authority. (Surprised to see it on the front page of the FT though!).

I have 4 Gmail email accounts to give away, their web-email accounts run by Google that have 1000Mb of storage per person and they are completely free.

I’d prefer them to go to someone I know rather than randoms but if you want one then please email me: james at dancingwithloons.com.

Matt’s birthday on Friday night was great, had a fantastic BBQ in the back garden with some good music, lots of drink and good company. A bit lower key than the flat-warming but it was much more fun for the hosts and good to chat to some folk I haven’t really chatted to in a while. Not sure if we took any photos but if some appear then I’ll add them to the gallery.

The music even inticed a few friendly neighbours to come join our little shindig – the more the merrier (especially when they arrive with a bottle of Jack Daniels and have a hammock in thier back garden).

Fairly quiet weekend otherwise, dog-walking in the park, a few drinks, a game of pool, finally seeing Love Actually, another BBQ and of course some more good company. Missed a fantastic roast dinner that Chef Charlie created for Matt, Mor, Stu and Hannah. All that was left by the time I got home was a gnawed chicken carcass and the dirty dishes – so not fair!

Gonna get whipped at badminton again tonight but that mostly thanks to staying up to some ungodly hour watching the Deer Hunter (long, good, funny and wierd – Fecking Aehh.

Oh forgot to say that Lori’s headed back north after a week with us in London, was good to see him and catch up on old times – even got to meet the lucky lady Naomi (briefly). If anyone else fancies a free place to stay in London and a few drinks down the local then let me know…
