All quiet on the southern front at the moment…
Had a fantastic Christmas with Sian and Helen – we ate and drank until we couldn’t move and managed to produce a great Christmas dinner for three. Went over to Twickenham to visit Sian’s parents and gran on Boxing Day which was great too.
Been back at work this week – fortunately its been very quiet and working hours have been short and sweet. Off to Glasgow tonight for a couple of days, back on the first. Staying at my sister’s flat apart from hogmany which I spending at the Dalmeny Park Hotel. Rumours of a DCS meetup in Glasgow on Friday night and also hoping to meet up with as many of the old gang as possible. If anyone’s around it would be good to meet up!
Hope you all had a great Christmas and have a fantastic New Year!

Festive party season is in full swing but only managed to find one photo of me in the hundreds taken at the work bash:

Only actually know Neil (on the right) – he’s in my team, the rest are just some of the thousand odd randoms there – and that’s just the London IT department! Actually just remembered that Neil knows the others in the photo so not really randoms I guess.

Matt and I went and got a Christmas tree tonight, the place is looking proper festive with all these lights, tinsel and baul-bauls, tucking into a nice mince pie and a glass of port while I write this post! Matt’s even downloading Christmas tunes as we speak:

Fairly quiet weekend this time round – not much going with Sian’s exams looming!
Had a quiet Friday night in watching Lost and chilling out on the couch. Had a fairly lazy Saturday but then headed off into town with Matt to join the celebrations for Charlie’s birthday. Started off in the Jazz Cafe in Camden watching Kokoloko (a decidedly un-african african beat jazz band). Then moved on to a private party in some random bar nearby – was good just to sit, chat to good friends and drink a lot of beer. Slightly strange to do all the dancing at the start of the night while sober and then sit in a bar when hammered! Got a taxi home at half 2 and collapsed in bed.
Sunday was very lazy, only managed to get dressed at 5PM, dashed out for a quick Sunday Waga with Matt and Linus and then back to the couch before bed.

Went to see the Proclaimers tonight with Jim and Helen, managed to sneak some photos and videos on my phone that I thought I’d share. Also managed to bag myself a signed copy of the new CD. Sang myself horse and boogied away – drank too much too!

Wandered into ASDA on the way home to try and get an xBox 360 – its amazing where the drunken monkey will lead you! Just as well they did actually have any!

Had a great weekend up in Scum-dee, trip up was good despite 7 hours on the train, wedding party was excellent, Derek and Paula looked amazing. Headed to bed fairly early but got woken at 4.45 am when the hotel fire alarm went off, after 10 minutes in the cold the fire brigade came and let us back in. Train home was a bit of pain, 8 hours long and packed full of idiots!
Uploaded the photos too!
Recently our street has turned into the joyride dumping ground of London. Which at first is not surprising given its quiet and fairly poorly lit location, but you’d have thought that the little theives would have realised that there are only two roads into and out of the estate and if the police were actually chasing them then they’d be screwed.
Thought I’d share the one dumped in the street the other night that we still there three days later:
This one has been parked there for 3 days and seems to be getting worse and worse each day. very neatly parked though!

This one on the other hand has been sitting in a bush for over a week, at first I thought it was such very poor provisional driver (hence the “P” plate) who’d just simply lost control but now it would appear to just be an abandoned car:

Matt sent me this, had to share:
Remember the Deutsche song? … this is worse! Get ready to cringe ALL over again!!
Off to Dundee tomorrow with Sian for Derek’s wedding reception, 8 hours on the train just to get there – hope it makes it through the wind, rain, sleet and snow forcasted otherwise we’ll miss the whole thing!
Trying to think what’s been happening of late:
– Went out with Aidan and Sinead for a few drinks on Tuesday night which was clearly a few too many for me cos I ended up talking complete b*llocks.
– Went out on Thursday with Derek to celebrate his last night out before the wedding, ended up in Abacus but it was really too busy to dance like a loon.
– Work is stupidly busy at the moment – ended up working all day last Saturday.
– Went up to Reading last Saturday night to see Jim and help celebrate his birthday.
– Matt and I successfully fitted a burglar alarm to the flat, our neighbours weren’t quite as successful and managed to set their’s off on Friday night. Grr
– Mum and Dad are hosting a Scottish celebration in Sri Lanka this weekend for 350 guests!
– Ellen has the mumps.
– My team at work found my website… they haven’t managed to find anything too embarrassing so far but its only a matter of time – the about me page is pretty bad!
– Been to see the new Harry Potter and its pretty good, not brilliant but worth seeing. Impressed that they managed to squeeze such a long book into a normal film length but its definitely missing things I liked in the book. Still got the new book to read, its been sitting on my bookshelf since the day it was released – still unread!

Safely back from Budapest, not sure if I can stretch to a full update but the highlights were definately quad biking, clay pigeon shooting, bob-sleighing and drinking. Good time had by all 26 of us and Derek even managed to make it home in one piece (his hair didn’t)…
Some very poor photos and videos from my phone to share with you, you’ll need to open the videos in Internet Explorer and have QuickTime installed to view them (I’ll try and fix that this weekend), enjoy:

Very dull weekend this time round – only managed a trip to Asda, a trip round the shops and a trip to the gym in Old Street to get whipped by Derek at squash.
Higjlight of the weekend was buying Pro Evolution Soccer 5 for the PS2 – its brilliant but almost impossible to score at.
Off to Bupapest on Thursday morning for Derek’s stag – won’t be blogging again till I get back next week. You can fill you r time between now and then imagining 30-odd of us in Budapest – bob-sleighing, quad biking, clay pigeon shooting and gulashing. Full report when I get back!
Oh, well done to Jill for an amazing time in the marathon!
