Having a bit of a mental block this week trying to work out what I actually managed to do this weekend…

Had quite a quiet Friday, just chilled out after dinner with Sian. Had a lazy day on Saturday, I had a nice lie-in (first for a while) and then just pottered around until Sian and I ventured out through the thunder and lightning to meet up with Jen and Nick in Angel. Worked out that its been nearly 3 years since I saw Nick and almost as long for Jen but it was really good to see them, felt like I’d seen them just a couple of weeks before. A few other familiar faces were there too, Fiona, Phil and Chris were there and it was great to see them too.

Another lie in on Sunday to soothe my surprisingly large hangover and then wandered around the shops in Canary Wharf for a while before doing some dull clearing up and sorting out in the flat ahead of all our visitors this week. Ended up in Wagamama’s with Matt to get this week’s ration of Chicken Katsu Curry.

Ellen is staying with me tonight with her friend AJ, she’s heading back to Glasgow tomorrow. Beath and Slade are down on Thursday for a long weekend so its gonna get quite busy and messy – just the way I like it.

I promise to have at least some slightly interesting news next time!

Someone at work just posted this up and thought it just summed things up pretty damn nicely:

bush: the biggest disaster to hit the US

Not sure if it really is “breaking news” though!

Haven’t watched cricket really in years but somehow I’m addicted to the ashes this time round. Imagine my surprise (and the rest of the office’s joy) when work announced they were setting up an internal website showing the ashes for us all to watch while at our desks. Productivity has steeply declined despite the fact that I’ve got LOADS to do!

Thought I’d share a couple of quick snaps I grabbed this week at work:

van

A van parked outside my office – “We’ll hump anything” caused endless distractions during Thursday including my supervisor who thought it was the funnies thing he’d ever seen. Hmm… do you agree?

volley

A beach volleyball court myseteriously appeared outside the office this week and you can watch the action live on the web cam.

Another weekend of moving, but this time it was Sian’s stuff that was being packed up and moved across London. Took us two carloads and 2 days to get the stuff together and from Twickenham to Westferry but we got there in the end and Sian’s new flat is really nice and really close to work so it was well worth it.

Went to the Lee Hurst Comedy Club on Friday night with Sian, Linus and Matt. Lee Hurst (of the Think Its All Over fame) wasn’t actually performing but he was at the bar and they had 3 stand-ups doing some pretty good stuff. Was very impressed, especially with the last guy! Problem with going to comedy gigs is you can never remember any of the good jokes afterwards and the ones you do remember just sound terrible when you try and repeat them…

Had planned to go out for Ross’s birthday on Saturday night but as Sian and I didn’t manage to get back to Docklands until after 10PM there was no chance in us making it to the dinner and drinks planned for 7PM. Happy birthday to Ross anyway – sorry we missed it mate!

After Linus helped me and Sian move stuff into the new place on Sunday and Sian had ump-teen viewings for the spare rooms I headed home to chill out and watching some amazing parkour/free-running action called Jump London on the telly with Matt and Linus before gorging myself on Crispy Duck pancakes from Tai Pan and relaxing in a nice hot bath.

Gym-ed it up last night for the first time in a while, 3 miles in 26 minutes which is the furthest I’ve run in quite a while. Back tonight for another half hour run I hope, but maybe the enthusiasm might wear off after lunch.

London is far too warm and muggy to even consider sleeping in and judging from all the Thames water adverts we’re gonna be running out of water shortly – ah the joys of London!

http://www.speedcameramap.co.uk/ – might come in handy as I’ve borrow Sian’s car again this week!!!

Just found this webcam outside my office, in winter it shows out off the outdoors ice-rink, this week its showing some strange fashion show and next week its supposed to be beach volleyball.

Busy weekend: quick night out with Matt on Friday topped off with a trip to MacDonalds with the taxi driver; off to St Margarets on Saturday; day trip to Oxford on Sunday followed by last night of the proms in Marble Hill Park; Richmond for lunch before heading back to Docklands and then a complete collapse on the couch on Monday.

Sian’s still looking for a flat but seems to have quite a few viewings on the cards, off to see a place tonight – fingers crossed.

Still haven’t heard if Beath and Slade are coming down despite the Gimmes being cancelled for no apparent reason. Gonna be some busy weekends for the next two months, 4 different sets of visitors, a couple of weddings, a stag do, trips to Brighton and sailing. Just hope we get the desposit for the old flat to pay for it all!

Ellen’s off to Atlanta in the US for a week or two. Mum and Dad sound as if they’re doing well in Sri Lanka – although I haven’t heard from them in a couple of weeks.

Lots of freebies being handed out near work today – managed to blag 2 mini-bottles of Clinique after-shave, 2 mini-bottles of Hugo Boss after-shave and 2 mini-bottles of moisturiser – sometimes working in the City has its advantages.

Finally got round to adding some videos that I took a while ago.

REM.wmv
REM.wmv
– Some highlights from the REM concert in Hyde park – watch out for the dancing loon in a white t-shirt!

StuLeaves.wmv
StuLeaves.wmv
– Stu leaves for Japan.

So that’s the videos gallery resurrected then…

Also thought I’d share some random photos of some other dancing loons, who took it upon themselves to square dance outside my office on Friday lunchtime. Very random and very strange but they seemed to enjoy themselves.
