Sorry been slack on the updates AGAIN!!!

Have I been a busy boy? Lets see:

  • Celebrated a year with Sian with dinner at The Ivy near Covent Garden, think we were a bit overdressed but was nice to dress up for the first time in a while, haven’t had my suit on since the job interviews last year. The food was brilliant, had a haddock tart to start, shepherds pie for main, sticky toffee pudding for desert. The best shepherds pie I’ve ever tasted (sorry mum) but then again it did cost an arm and a leg. A nice treat and very casual but up-market place. Didn’t see any celebs (thank god) but did lots of people watching.
  • Went to see Ali, Michael and the newly born Lottie in hospital, she’s HUGE with really long legs! Was great to see them and even better to hear that they’re now home after the mandatory 2 days in hospital. Never seen a baby that young before (2 days) but wow is all I can say – you should have seen the grin on my face when I got to hold her.
  • More good news: Doug and Mairi got engaged, haven’t heard the details yet and emailed Doug to find out more but he’s completely un-contactable.
  • Even more good news: Derek and Paula got engaged while away in Iceland, again I still haven’t heard the details yet as they’re not back in the UK yet but the celebrations for that will be drunken. Wonder if we can top Bratislava for the stag do?
  • Speaking of weddings, been to the Wedding Crashers and also the Fantastic Four movie, both of which were good in places and not so good in others. Wedding crashers is the better of the two. Also finally got to see Pirates of Caribbean, which I’ve been dying to see for ages but found particularly underwhelming, I don’t know which was worse, Johnny Depp’s drunkenness or Keira Knightly’s stupid pouting!
  • Expecting a bunch of visitors in the next couple of weeks
    • Beath, Slade and maybe Doug for the Gimmes concert
    • Nick is coming down for a weekend and given that I always seem to be away when he comes to London and he’s always away when I visit Scotland it’ll be good to catch up.
    • Ellen and Dave are down to come with me and Sian to my cousin Rhona’s wedding.

  • Had a couple of pub visits, bit of pub crawl with Matt on Saturday to visit all our new locals and then went out to watch the Arsenal-Chelsea game on Sunday with Sian, Matt, Sinead, Jill, Sara and Keira, which ended in the most competitive game of Jenga ever (you had to be there I guess).
  • Tim headed off to Nigeria for the foreseeable future and I didn’t manage to meet-up with him before he left, I am a bad friend but hope he’s “reaching for the stars” over there or at least teaching them the words and moves to S Club’s greatest hits.
  • Still haven’t got the deposit back for the old flat and they’re avoiding my calls and refusing to return my emails which isn’t good.
  • Stu is still doing well in Tokyo, amazingly he seems to have turned up in the Sun though (he’s hiding behind all the short people).
  • Rory’s moved… to Doncaster.
  • Sian got through her exams with flying colours but her flat purchase in East London fell through so if anyone knows of someone with a room to rent then please let me know, ta!
  • Sian also sat next to Eugene from Big Brother on the train the other day, not sure if that counts as news but hey it amused me.

FANTASTIC NEWS!!!!

My cousin Ali gave birth yesterday to a little bundle of joy – Lottie is less 18 hours old and mother and bady are doing well.

Apparently Lottie came a day early and Ali’s waters broke in the cleaning products aisle of the Balham branch of Sainsbury’s :-)

Sian and I are hoping to go and visit tomorrow if they’ll let us in! I’ll update this after that!.

Really happy for Ali and Michael – its great news!

Matt has posted some photos of the new house for everyone to see, enjoy! PS: My room is the messy one!

byrney

Byrney’s created a new blog with his latest news and adventures in “TKO” (Tokyo, Japan), he’s even managed to post some photos too!

This shouldn’t be funny… but given the security climate in London it kinda is…

underground notice

NB: This does look remarkably real and not faked, but then again these notice boards are everywhere and are left largely unattended so someone could have just taken a pen and written it before taking the photo.

Yippe, after lots of emails with Blogger and me2uweb (my internet company) looks like the Blogger problem has been solved and I can now start updating this thing again. Sorry for the delays, hopefully normal service will now resume.

This week’s news & Catch-ups:

  • Mum and Dad have moved.
  • My cousin Rhona is getting married in September and I’m dragging Sian along.
  • HUGE congratulations to Doug who just announced his engagement to Mairi. Brilliant news.
  • Byrney is doing well in Tokyo, still looking for a flat.
  • Had a great night out with the Reading lot to help Shelly raise lots of cash for her New York Marathon trip & The MacMillan Cancer Charity. Nurses uniforms all round and thanks to Derek I turned up in uniform (nurse’s scrubs). Will try and get a copy of someone’s photos. Its official – I’m really really bad at fousball – sorry Jim!
  • Had another couple of good night outs with Scott to celebrate his birthday.
  • If you’d like to listen to the REM concert I went to then you can find it online at the BBC at: REM at Hyde Park.
  • Mark is back from his world tour, and the same problems with his website have been resolved.
  • Nikki is back too.
  • Rory is on the move, his fiance Vik has passed her final exams with flying colours and moved to Doncaster to take up a new job as a vet and Rory is moving down with her too.

Err that’s all I can think of but I’m sure there’s more…

Still having technical troubles (the same problems as http://www.wheresmespuds.com/, but I’ve managed to add a whole load of photos:
REM
REM(2005-07-31)

REM in Hyde Park with Sian, Matt, Jill, Sinead, Claire, Sara, John and some mad white-shirted crazy dancing bloke!

Whipsnade Census
Whipsnade Census(2005-07-23)

Juliet enroled Sian, Jim, Helen and I to help her round up and count all the wallabies, the chinese water deer, the muntjac, the mara, the hare and various other animal in whipsnade park. After a day in the rain and trapsing all over the place we managed to count them all and discovered a rogue zebra along the way.

Stu is Leaving!
Stu is Leaving!(2005-07-22)

Stu’s leaving party at the old flat, the night before he went to Tokyo for life!!! Lots of people there and a great BBQ to say goodbye with. Just watch how drunk I get and how my eyes get smaller and smaller.

The Bombings
The Bombings(2005-07-07)

Some photos from that day in London, long walks home and loads of people on the streets, areas taped off and mild panic. But please whatever you do – don’t call it “Seven-Seven”.

2005-07-28 09:07:00

London is crawling with police, they are positioned at every station on the tube network and checking through people’s bags before they board. Not sure where all these police are suddenly appearing from or how long they can keep this kind of presence up for…. hopefully long enough to catch the bad-guys and get London back to normal.

2005-07-25 17:46:00

Police shot Brazilian eight times, lots of people preticted he was innocent when we first heard about this – truth is stranger than fiction.

Having technical problems with the site (not my fault) but Blogger ain’t posting… sorry!
