Dunn’s Stag
Dec 3rd
Got back late last night from Alasdair Dunn’s stag-do in York. We had a great three day trip: dinner and a few drinks on the Friday; go-karting, ghost-touring, a curry, a few more drinks, a fight and a trip to A&E; on the Saturday; clay pigeon shooting Sunday lunch and a cancelled overcrowded train home on the Sunday. Perfect
They’re also on flickr and facebook!
More details on the fight? Yes I thought you might ask…
Sadly on the way home to our hotel on the Saturday night at about 2am we came across a damsel in distress, cold, wet and miles from home she complained that she was getting followed by people who were gonna beat her up so could we look after her and get her a cab? We quickly flagged one down and gave her cash to get home – she looked genuinely terrified…
Just as we put her in the cab, a bunch of what we Scots would describe as “neds” appeared round the corner and started hurling abuse. It was a mixed group of 2 girls and 2 guys, both in their early twenties I reckon. As we hustled away down the road to the hotel, they proceeded to follow us and antagonise us into a fight. First spit whistled past us, then insults and then finally one of the girls, yes a girl!!! smashed Rory from behind and put her knuckle/ring though his cheek. To Rory’s credit he didn’t react and once he regained his balance he walked on with the rest of us despite having a gush of blood raining down from his face. I’m not even sure how she did it as it was from behind, she was fairly slight and she picked on the tallest and probably best built of all of us.
As we approached the hotel one of the guys in the group then started to use the fact that his sister had punched one of us as a reason to have another go, not exactly sure why or if that even makes sense but he seemed to be outraged that one of us had dared to be punched by his sibling – maybe she broke her hand? Then again she was holding him back with one hand and that seemed to prevent him moving (despite him being twice her size) – all very weird!
We got to the hotel and called the police, they never showed up so after an hour or so we triaged Rory with the hotel’s first aid kit and then Keith took charge and got him to A&E; for stitches. You can see the before shot in the pictures.
Again to Rory’s credit he’s taken the whole thing very well, the rest of us seemed more shook-up then he did – all in all quite a scary situation at 2am in the back streets of York…
Co-incidentally I think Rory won the clay pigeon shooting the next day, probably imagining her face on the top of each target!
Lifestyles Of The Rich & Famous
Nov 26th
Yeah right, if only – but at least Dad’s continuing his high society hob-nobbing post MBE, this time he’s been meeting Alex Salmond (Scotland’s First Minister) and the rest of the successful Scotland Commonwealth games delegation:

- The Herald
I just wonder when he’s starting on his memoirs…
Lots of Photos

Life’s been a little hectic in the last couple of weeks, I’ve taken far too many photo and not quite gotten round to posting them here… so here are the updates:

James At Airkix

I went indoor skydiving at Milton Keynes at the weekend. Matt bought me a session for my birthday in January and its taken me this long to sort out. Thanks to b1te (Matt’s company) for the video and the DVD – it’s really cool, even if I do look like a prat!

Now very tempted to rip and upload my sky dive from New Zealand – anyone interested in seeing it?
Scotland – Ukraine
Oct 15th
Didn’t get to see the game sadly but was glued to my phone for updates… but thanks to YouTube for the highlights…
Everything is crossed for Wednesday and then what will be will be when we play Italy.
Avenue Q
Oct 12th
I went to see Avenue Q last night in the West End. Was very impressed; hilariously funny. Definitely influenced by Sesame Street (Cookie Monster and Bert and Ernie rip-offs) but very good. Laughed out loud most of the way through and even giggled like a girl. If you like South Park, Team America or anything similar then you’ll love this.
Just don’t take the kids, cos its definitely for adults – featuring such hits as “everyone’s a little bit racist” and “the internet is for porn”!
The weirdest thing about the whole night, is that the puppets are on stage with puppeteers attached and singing, but for some reason you stop looking at the real person and watch the puppet move and talk. Surreal…
Painting…
Sep 24th
Spent the weekend doing DIY and painting our ORANGE lounge back to a more retina friendly shade of off-white – “Almond White”.
Here are the photo highlights (yes, we got more paint on Gloria than on the walls):
Also did the edging round the floorboards, a job I’ve had on the to-do list for two years and three months, but who is counting?
Two years before we do the next job? Probably…
In other news, well there is no other news, except I won a tenner on the football results.
