Off to Lithuania

I’m off to Lithuania bright and early tomorrow morning (we have to be at the airport at 6.30am!). Going over with Derek to see bonnie Scotland play. Enthusiasm, morale and complacency are high after Saturday’s 6-nil win but considering Lithuania drew with Italy at the same time in Italy perhaps Scotland are again underdogs for this one too?

Well looking forward to it, will be there with the kilt on! Back at the weekend!

Slade’s been down to stay for the weekend, he was in London for a national baseball tournament and he’s heading back north today.

I’ll post more updates and photos when I get back!

Bored?

Well see what you can do with a little spare time and 8 spare running machines!

Blackpool Videos

Again they aren’t the most exciting but thought I’d experiment with YouTube and upload my videos from the weekend…

Dreamscape…

Saw the news today and realised that I’ve been in that “inflatable artwork” that took off and flew away with lots of people in it before killing a couple of them as it fell back to earth!

Photos from the BBC and in fact here’s a photo (taken by Jen) of me inside it:

Its a shame its been ruined – it was actually a really nice thing to sit inside and enjoy. It was a bit like a giant bouncy castle except that you walk and sit inside the plastic shell instead of on top of it. As light shines through the plastic you get to see some really cool effects and shapes.

Blackpool

I’m afraid my photos aren’t very good or very many but I’ve posted them up anyway!

We had a great time although I’m a bit battered and bruised after a trip to the Pleasure Beach. Sian and I traveled up on Friday morning to meet up with the gang (Vik, Alan, Dan, Phoebe, Nev and Sam) who came down from Scotland. We visited the tower on Friday afternoon and had a walk along a couple of the piers before heading out for a really nice meal at a local hotel.

Up early on Saturday and off to the theme park, I managed to pick a fight with some rowdy hen-night in the queue for tickets who decided to jump to the front. After that things got a lot better as we went straight to the Big One for a couple of rides. Nev chickened out of it again although he’s since tried to convince everyone that he went on it and in fact was in the front row… all lies I tell you!

Plucked up the courage for the Tango Ice Blast which shot passengers straight up in the air before dropping you back down – was absolutely crapping myself before the “launch” but glad I succumbed to peer pressure and I didn’t back out. Went on lots of other rides but Valhalla was another highlight – lots of flames, lots of water and a complete soaking but well worth it.

We had a fairly chilled out Saturday night to recover and then got the train back on Sunday – 7 and a half hours thanks to several delays we collapsed back in London. Shattered but happy!

The Chap Olympics

Thanks to Jim for letting us know about it but Sian and I went along to the “Chap Olympics” last week for several free Gin and Tonics and a rather bizarre evening of events… most of which were won by women… what does that say about us new men?

ZZ Top

This made me laugh out loud in the office today, hope you can stiffle the giggles a bit better:

football season starts soon

You better not kill the groove!

Breaking news: Sophie Ellis Bextor has been found head butted to death in the apartment of a French footballer. Apparently it was murder on Zidanes floor!

(Thanks to Linus and in honour of many a cheesy pop night in Glasgow with that song on!)

Broadgate Circle

A couple of weeks ago, this place was a beach… now it seems to be turning itself into someone’s posh back-garden! The wonders of a small bit of open space in the middle of London (and outside my office). Follow developments on the web-cam!

The Bombings (2005-07-07)- One Year Later

Out of interest I thought I’d dig out my post from exactly a year ago:

Reports of 6 explosions and lots of office evacuations but so far just about everyone has checked in OK – Matt, Charlie, Linus and Sian have all checked in.

Managed to get hold of mum and dad on the phone but still haven’t managed to get through to Ellen to let her know I’m OK – then again she’s probably still asleep :-)

Some photos from that day in London, long walks home and loads of people on the streets, areas taped off and mild panic. But please whatever you do – don’t call it “Seven-Seven”.
